Shelter Dog has the most unique smile - And it's perfect

When Zipper arrived at a shelter after being found wandering as a stray, staff members noticed that the 8-year-old wasn't typical. She was perfectly normal with a great personality - except for the fact that she had a ᴅᴇꜰᴏʀᴍᴇᴅ jaw that gave her the most charming, one-of-a-kind smile.

According to Huntsville Animal Services staff members, Zipper's special smile doesn't seem to affect her at all. She eats regularly and loves treats, and she seems unaware that she's not typical. "We don't know what caused the ᴍᴀʟꜰᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ," said Erin Webb, a volunteer at Huntsville Animal Services. "We don't know what caused it. She has a large underbite, and her teeth are pretty far apart."

Zipper could very well have been an outdoor dog her whole life and not properly cared for, based on her condition when she arrived at the shelter.

She had severe hair loss due to flea ᴀʟʟᴇʀɢɪᴇs, and she appeared to have had many litters of puppies in the past. She may have been ᴅɪsᴄᴀʀᴅᴇᴅ because she was no longer wanted or needed, but her new shelter family recognizes how valuable she is and can't wait to help her find a forever home.

Zipper's zipper may look different than others... However, when you see her unique smile, you can't help but want to get to know her. Webb explains, "Because she's a senior, she's a calm, sweet girl. She tends to like to curl up and travel. She likes to play with others and has befriended our other senior guy, Mike."

Zipper is great with other dogs and also seems like she would be wonderful with children. The shelter is unsure how she would be around cats, but she has a very sweet, gentle nature and could do well in many different households.

Zipper may have had a tough life, and now she's just looking for a retirement home, with a family who will accept her for exactly who she is.
